I have the best job in the world!

Lessons in Life Add comments

I get to meet experts in all walks of life every day... the world's finest doctors... lawyers... accountants... kitchen remodelers, chemists, economists, internet consultants.    I ask them probing questions... and many of those questions lead to stories that you read in our publications.   I love doing what I do!

But.. not everything that I learn fits within various missions of the publications that we mail to you.  There are too many good ideas and lessons and too much inside information to keep to myself... so what did I do?  I consulted an expert!  Internet consultant Ron Hiner... his suggestion:  "Margie.. it's time for you to start a blog.  He's right.

So here we go.. it's a start.   I'll contribute as time allows.   And I ask you to help me -- keep your comments polite, and use your real name.

Margie

It is great to provide the readers with a direct ability to comment. Even better that we can share ideas that will make us all prosper while we learn from each other.

    Margie,

I'm leaving for DC in a few hours - to talk to my Indiana reps about a stronger Renewable Energy Standard (RES in the pending "Climate Change" legislation.

An effective RES would require utility companies to generate (or buy) at least 20% of their energy from "clean" sources like solar or wind by the year 2020.

Lawmakers are trying to water down this bill to an RES of 12% - some key votes come from coal and nucluear states, and they don't want to see solar and wind move into their territory.

Anyone comments would be welcomed - my meetings are on the Hill tomorrow (Tuesday). Call my mobile with any comments: 219-808-7003.

    Best,

    Bill Keith, President
    SunRise Solar Inc.

It's amazing that more people don't realize EARLY in life that if you're going to do something for the rest of your life (essentially), why not do something you love to do...? I too share the joy you have of doing something you love to do AND get paid for doing it. Although my position doesn't involve helping people directly, it none-the-less provides the joy of waking up, enjoying the way I spend my day and providing an avenue that others can use to improve their lot.
I don't blog but I do enjoy Bottom line and all the related info that comes my way thru it...like your gleanings. Thanks for enjoying helping others...

In your July 15,2009 issue about counterfeit money you urge people to turn their counterfeit money into the government. Now I believe that is not a good idea as you will lose the value of the bills turned in. Yet in your column you state that your nanny went back to the bank where whe cashed her check and got the teller to change the bill for a good one. Also you state that can claim the loss under your home owners insurance company whigh I believe will reimburse you. Would it not be best to follow those routes so as not to lose the value of the money rather then turn it over to the government which I don't believe will reimburse you. Those are legal avenues to pursue. So as a money saving periodical I think you owe it to your readers to inform them that that is the best thing to do if they find that they have a counterfiet bill. Hello Mr. Barton.
In general, it is the law that counterfeit money be confiscated and returned to the Secret Service. Most banks will not replace the bill once you leave the bank with it...for obvious reasons. Your homeowner's insurance will compensate if you had added it to your regular coverage. The protection is not expensive ($2 to $5 for $5,000 coverage), but you have to have already purchased it—under "Credit Card, Fund Transfer card, Forgery and Counterfeit Money." If my response doesn't answer it all for you, e-mail me your mailing address via the "contact us" page on this web site, and I can send you more information.

You have the resources to create exciting things to journal. You have enough Categories going already. Don't get discouraged it may take a couple years to get going. We have multiple blogs and a forum board What we have created s a full time job for three of us, it is a bit restricting at times meaning we need to get out of the house more. LOL

You have a great start here I love it!
